Kenyan Officers Exposed in Arshad Sharif Murder: Pakistani TV
Geo TV, one of the most prominent television networks in Pakistan, has accused Kenyan authorities of deliberately mishandling the investigation into the cold-blooded murder of television personality Arshad Sharif.
Five Kenya Police officers accused of masterminding the murder were still enjoying benefits within the service, and two of them have since been promoted to senior ranks, according to government sources cited by the outlet.
Investigations also implicated the Independent Policing and Oversight Authority (IPOA) for neglecting to submit a report on the journalist’s murder.
“The authority’s spokesperson refused to give a timescale and didn’t respond to the questions as to why the watchdog has taken so long and why the police officers are back at their jobs without any accountability,” read the report in part.
“Investigations into the murder of the journalist seem to have gone silent in the East African country.”
Pakistani detectives have also criticized the Kenyan police’s investigation of the case, alleging cover-ups at the highest levels.

The detectives uncovered four inconsistencies in the National Police Service (NPS) report describing the circumstances surrounding the murder of Arshad Sharif, which was published in December 2022 in a 600-page report compiled by the investigating team.
The crew claimed that Sharif’s Land Cruiser stopped at the roadblock set up by General Service Unit (GSU) officers.
The bullet that struck Sharif in the head could not have originated from outside the vehicle, according to the police report, which insisted that the shot was discharged by a passenger inside the vehicle.
The findings also confirmed that Sharif was murdered. The document disclosed that the fatal shot was taken by a firearms expert, and was therefore premeditated.
The detectives also examined a second bullet wound on the deceased’s back, arguing that there was no bullet entry site on the seat.
In addition, there were twelve injuries discovered on Sharif’s corpse, not two as indicated by the Kenyan autopsy.
Therefore, Pakistani Detectives concluded that the journalist’s captors tormented him for hours before his death.
Sharif was allegedly assassinated in Kenya in October after fleeing the South Asian nation, whose regime he was said to have criticized.
