Kenyan Delegation Lands In Haiti Ahead of Police Deployment

A team from Kenya has arrived in Haiti in advance of sending Kenyan police officers for a peacekeeping operation, as part of their pre-mission arrangements.

The group, together with US government representatives, convened with Haiti’s Prime Minister Ariel Henry on Wednesday to delve into specific aspects of the mission.

The delegation also convened with both the High Council of Transition and the head of the Haitian police.

The office of the Prime Minister has additionally verified that a group of senior officials from Haiti will be journeying to Nairobi, Kenya in the upcoming months to finalize the agreement.

The scheduled meeting aims to establish the initial steps for the forthcoming deployment of Kenyan police, despite a Kenyan court’s directive that currently prevents this deployment.

Justice Chacha Mwita gave orders suspending the deployment until January 2024.
