Kenya Kwanza’s Dialogue Team: Kimani Ichung’wah Chooses 4 Lawyers
Kimani Ichung’wah, the Majority Leader of the National Assembly, has selected a group of four legal professionals to serve as Kenya Kwanza’s technical squad, which will assist in the dialogue with Azimio.
In a communication issued on Friday, August 11th, Ichung’wah announced his choice of Muthomi Thiankolu, a well-known attorney, and Linda Musumba, a legal practitioner and senior educator at Kenyatta University School of Law.
The remaining pair included lawyer Nick Biketi and Duncan Ojwang’, a legal specialist and senior educator at African Nazarene University.
Ichung’wah, who holds the position of Kikuyu MP as well, directed the legal team to guarantee that the discussions are clear and adhere to the stipulations of the Constitution.
In addition to choosing the attorneys, Kenya Kwanza also insisted that the discussions be broadcasted in real-time to increase responsibility and openness.
The group of four lawyers is prepared to confront the technical faction of Azimio, which includes Jeremiah Kioni, the troubled Secretary-General of Jubilee, and Adams Oloo, a senior instructor in political science and Public Administration at the University of Nairobi (UoN).
Zein Abubakar, previously a member of the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA), and Isabel Githinji, who holds the position of Secretary General in the Kenya Reform Party, concluded the roster presented by Azimio.
As decided in the initial bipartisan discussions conducted on Wednesday, August 9th, the technical experts from both sides will collaborate to establish a suitable structure that will serve as a reference for the upcoming negotiations commencing on Monday, August 14th.

Contentious Issues
The groups also committed not to disclose the details of the talks to the public until the negotiations are finished.
The topics being discussed involve concerns such as the expensive nature of living, the rebuilding of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), the establishment of the position of the recognized leader of the opposing party, and the integration of the prime minister’s role.
