Kenya and Djibouti Forge Historic Visa-Free Travel Pact
President William Ruto announced that Kenya and Djibouti have reached an agreement to eliminate visa requirements for travel between the two countries.
Ruto stated during a state visit to Djibouti that the plan will strengthen bilateral ties between the two countries.
President Ruto stated, “I am committed to removing visa requirements for Djiboutian citizens traveling to Kenya to facilitate interactions between individuals, commerce, and investment.”
Therefore, Kenya has completed the necessary procedures to allow Djiboutian citizens visa-free travel to Kenya.
President Ruto stated that Kenya and Djibouti will enter into labor agreements to improve coordination on labor migration for the two nations to benefit from a mutual perspective of gaining a skilled workforce.
Regarding this, I would like to thank my esteemed counterpart for hosting over 600 Kenyan professionals in Djibouti. We’ve established a Joint Technical Committee to facilitate this procedure,” he said.

To increase the use of English in Djibouti, Kenya will provide training and additional personnel, according to Kenya’s president, William Ruto.
Additionally, Djibouti will provide personnel to Kenyan training institutions to instruct students in the French language.
In addition, we discussed the integration of English language training into Djibouti’s curriculum. Kenya is prepared to provide the necessary resources and instructors to assist with this endeavor, he said.
The inclusion of French language trainees from Djibouti will benefit Kenyan Technical and Vocational Education Training institutions and medical training colleges to improve the language proficiency of Kenyan graduates seeking employment abroad.
Kenya also signed four Memorandums of Understanding (MOU), the purpose of which was to facilitate development in the energy sector through the exchange of technical skills, techniques, practices, and information.
Technical Cooperation in the Development of Youth Affairs and the Arts is another MOU that establishes a framework for collaboration in the development of modern, state-of-the-art sports and arts facilities.
Others include a memorandum of understanding on cooperation at the Foreign Service Academy and a memorandum of understanding on tourism collaboration, all of which aim to strengthen partnerships between the two countries.
