“Keep Your Mouth Shut!” Raila Warns US Ambassador

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga criticized US Ambassador Meg Whitman on Thursday for her remarks at the ongoing Devolution Conference regarding the 2022 elections.

At the Uasin Gishu Conference, the leader of the ODM referred to Whitman as a renegade ambassador and accused her of interfering in Kenyan affairs.

He indicated that they would seek to recall the ambassador if she continued to allegedly interfere in the affairs of the country.

“The renegade Ambassador must be informed that Kenya is not a United States colony. He stated that she must respect Kenyans or keep her voice shut.

Raila also criticized Whitman for her remarks regarding the protest, adding that the truce between President William Ruto and Azimio was a direct result of the demonstrations.

According to him, protests are protected by the Constitution and have yielded positive results in recent years, including devolution.

“If maandamano can facilitate a conversation between Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wah and Kalonzo Musyoka, then everything is fine with maandamano,” he said.

Whitman stated during her presentation at the devolution conference that the General Election of 2022 was the most credible in Kenyan history.

She stated that the Supreme Court’s decision to uphold Ruto’s election victory was also evidence of a free and fair process.

“I arrived in Kenya a few days before the general election in August 2022; what I saw was nothing short of remarkable. Whitman stated that, according to numerous analysts and commentators, Kenya held the freest, fairest, and most credible election in the country’s history.

The elections were monitored by international and local organizations, the results were upheld by the Kenyan Supreme Court, and the transfer of power was conducted without incident.

Raila has previously accused unnamed foreign powers of interfering with the elections of the previous year. According to the leader of the ODM, the ballots were manipulated in favor of his rival.
