Kanini Kega Boldly Defends Ruto, Sends Strong Message to Uhuru
EALA MP Kanini Kega Urges Ex-President Uhuru Kenyatta to Stay Away from William Ruto’s Government.
On Wednesday, July 15, while speaking to a crowd in Bahati Constituency, the aspiring Jubilee Party Secretary General urged the ex-President to communicate with former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and put an end to the demonstrations.
He accused Uhuru of failing to back Ruto, alleging that the President had provided support during his administration.
“To the former President Uhuru Kenyatta, the gentleman who is now the President stood with you for 10 years when you were the President as his principal assistant. Helped him work. In 2002, the same gentleman (Ruto)stood with him.
“What we are requesting from Uhuru, Kindly let the government William Ruto be. Talk to former Prime Minister Raila Odinga because the cost of living will not be brought down through protests,” he chastised.
He additionally urged Azimio la Umoja leaders to concede defeat and recognize Ruto as Kenya’s current president.
“We went to the elections and we lost. Let’s say the truth, the current government is headed by President William Ruto and he is the President. Let us give him a chance to work,” he added.
Previously, Digital Strategist Dennis Itumbi and other leaders alleged that President Uhuru was supporting the protests, causing frustration for William Ruto’s government.
Specifically, Itumbi alleged that on July 6, the ex-President led a gathering of Azimio lawmakers, during which they devised measures to obstruct government operations, commencing with the July 7 Saba Saba demonstrations.

As per Ruto’s team, during a meeting purportedly led by President Uhuru, one proposal discussed was the gathering of 10 million signatures to oust President William Ruto.
“After an early morning meeting at Raila Odinga’ Kerarapon home between Former President Uhuru and Raila Odinga today. A secret emergency meeting was called by Azimio.
“The meeting agreed that there would be no maandamano in Nairobi and that instead, they would go to Kamukunji grounds and launch the website and public collection of signatures,” Itumbi claimed.
Taking Over
Kega, the leader of a Jubilee Party faction collaborating with President Ruto and creating tensions with Uhuru, aims to gain acknowledgment as the former ruling party’s secretary general.
On Monday, July 10, the EALA MP received a momentary respite as the Political Parties Dispute Tribunal (PPDT) affirmed his position as the SG, leading to the removal of Jeremiah Kioni and David Murathe from party leadership.
However, the ruling’s reign was brief as the High Court promptly issued conservatory orders preventing the Kanini Kega faction from assuming control of the Jubilee Party.
