Kamala Harris Will Bring America to its Knees – Museveni’s Son Muhoozi

In a departure from standard diplomatic norms, Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni’s son and Chief of the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF), has stirred attention by publicly supporting U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris for the presidency.

On August 16, 2024, Kainerugaba took to X (formerly Twitter) to voice his backing for Harris, describing her potential presidency as the pinnacle of poetic justice for Black Americans who have faced 400 years of enslavement.

Kainerugaba’s endorsement arrives as Kamala Harris, with her Jamaican father and Indian mother heritage, is leading former President Donald Trump in the polls.

In his statement, Kainerugaba remarked, “If this remarkable Black woman becomes America’s next President, I’ll be the first to salute her! It would be the ultimate poetic justice. They enslaved us, colonized us, oppressed us, and it took one of our women to bring them to their knees.”

Such a public endorsement is atypical, as foreign leaders usually avoid engaging in the electoral affairs of other countries.

Nonetheless, Kainerugaba’s comments have introduced a global perspective to the U.S. presidential race, emphasizing Harris’s symbolic importance for people of color around the world.

Recent opinion polls have shown Harris with a five-point advantage over Trump in crucial swing states.

A New York Times/Siena College poll from August 10, 2024, revealed Harris with 50% support among voters in Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, compared to Trump’s 46%.

Another Emerson College poll on August 15 indicated Harris leading Trump nationally by the same margin, 50% to 46%.

These figures follow Harris’s decision to run for president after Joe Biden, the current U.S. President, stepped down from the race due to age-related concerns.

Harris’s campaign has gained considerable momentum, particularly among younger voters, people of color, and significant Democratic Party supporters.

The recent selection of Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as Harris’s vice-presidential running mate has further invigorated her campaign, generating excitement among her base.

As Harris continues her presidential campaign, Kainerugaba’s unexpected endorsement highlights the global interest and influence surrounding the upcoming U.S. election.
