Kalonzo Slams Ruto’s Jamhuri Day Speech
Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka has criticized President Ruto’s Jamhuri Day address, describing it as misleading and falling short of expectations.
In a sharp critique, Kalonzo accused the President of focusing more on the Kenya Kwanza Government’s accomplishments rather than addressing pressing concerns affecting ordinary Kenyans.
“The 61st Jamhuri Day speech, which should have been a moment for solemn national reflection, turned into a self-congratulatory narrative filled with pipe dreams and misinformation,” Kalonzo stated on Thursday evening.
He further alleged that the speech lacked alignment with the vision of Kenya’s founding leaders, who endured great sacrifices to liberate the nation from colonial oppression. According to Kalonzo, the President’s remarks misrepresented these ideals.

The Wiper Party leader also hinted at favoritism within the Kenya Kwanza Government, suggesting that loyalty to the administration was being rewarded over merit or national interests.
Kalonzo, a consistent critic of the President, recently clashed with Ruto over the government’s planned mass livestock vaccination campaign. Kalonzo accused Ruto of planning to use harmful vaccines from the United States, an allegation the President dismissed as baseless during the Pastoralist Leadership Summit in Wajir County.
In his Jamhuri Day speech, President Ruto highlighted Kenya’s journey to independence and emphasized key initiatives by his administration, including efforts to improve food security, agro-industrial growth, the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda, and the Taifa Care program.
The President also called on his critics to base their assessments on verifiable facts rather than propagating misinformation. He cautioned against the dangers of disinformation in the digital era, warning that it could undermine Kenya’s freedom, democracy, and development.
