Kalonzo Musyoka Opens Up on Coalition with Gachagua Ahead of 2027 Elections
Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has addressed ongoing rumors about a potential partnership with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua ahead of the 2027 elections.
Speaking after attending a funeral in Embu on Thursday, Kalonzo, along with Azimio principals Eugene Wamalwa of DAP Kenya and former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu, emphasized that Gachagua would be welcome to join opposition forces.
During his address to the crowd, Kalonzo expressed optimism about the coalition’s future, stating that Azimio would remain active in opposition despite the recent appointments by the new government.
“Whether in government or opposition, as we approach January, we want to make it clear to those who joined the government to go ahead, but our coalition will continue. We must forge a new coalition,” Kalonzo affirmed.
Wamalwa supported Kalonzo’s remarks, voicing his approval of a potential alliance with Gachagua and encouraging Kenyans to rally behind the movement.
“We heard that the former DP is willing to collaborate with Kalonzo and Wamalwa. Do you think Gachagua should join us?” Wamalwa asked the audience.

Kalonzo and Wamalwa’s comments followed Gachagua’s declaration the previous day, where he expressed interest in collaborating with Azimio leaders for the upcoming elections.
While speaking at a burial in Makueni County on Wednesday, December 18, Gachagua welcomed the Kamba community to unite with others for future endeavors.
Taking a jab at President William Ruto, Gachagua praised Kalonzo, stating that he had consistently supported what was right, even against the Kenya Kwanza Government.
“The Wiper Party, under Kalonzo, has shown grace, and we have decided you are our lifelong allies. When we say this, we mean it,” Gachagua remarked.
“We owe Kalonzo and his supporters. We are in talks with him and will strategize together. As Kenyans, we aim to find ways to improve the economy and end the culture of lies,” he added.
Gachagua further mentioned that the Kamba community could potentially oust President Ruto’s administration in the next elections, provided they turn out in significant numbers.
