Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka expressed confidence that his party would lead the next government in 2027.

Speaking to Tseikuru residents in Kitui County on Thursday, Kalonzo conveyed his commitment to completing unfinished projectsย in the county.

He stated his intent to collaborate with local leaders, including the county governor, to address stalled projects.

Kalonzo encouraged residents to back the Wiper Party, which he believes will lead the government in 2027.

He acknowledged residents’ concerns about stalled infrastructure projects like roads and dams.

The Wiper leader visited the county to console the family of his former aide Katu Munuvi, who recently passed away.

Kalonzo praised Munuvi as a dedicated individual and offered continued support to his family beyond the mourning period.

He reflected on Munuviโ€™s passing with respect, offering his condolences and wishing him peace.

Kalonzoโ€™s political career dates back to the 90s.

He served as Kenya’s tenth Vice President from 2008 to 2013.

Kalonzo has held various positions under Presidents Daniel Moi and Mwai Kibaki.

He served as Minister for Foreign Affairs from 1993 to 1998 and later as Minister of Education from 1998 to 2001. Under President Kibaki, he resumed the role of Foreign Affairs Minister from 2003 to 2004.

Kalonzo then held the position of Minister of the Environment from 2004 to 2005.

He ran as a presidential candidate in 2007 but later became Vice President when Kibaki appointed him in January 2008.

Kalonzo leads the Wiper Democratic Movement (formerly known as the Orange Democratic Movement-Kenya).

In the quest for Kenya’s fourth presidency, Kalonzo joined forces with his long-time political rival Raila Odinga to form the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD).

Kalonzo served as Railaโ€™s running mate.

During the first round of the 2013 presidential election, former President Uhuru Kenyatta emerged as the president-elect.

In 2017, Kalonzo aligned with Raila once more to create the National Super Alliance against President Kenyatta and then Deputy President William Ruto.

Kalonzo ran as Raila’s vice-presidential candidate.

In the 2022 elections, Kalonzo initially planned to run for the presidency but eventually withdrew his candidacy to supportย Raila’sย Azimio la Umoja campaign.
