Kalonzo and Governor Wavinya Embroiled in Shocking Mavoko Land Controversy
The leader of the Wiper party, Kalonzo Musyoka, and the governor of Machakos, Wavinya Ndeti, have been dragged into the Mavoko land dispute.
Six Ukambani members of parliament affiliated with the Kenya Kwanza coalition assert that the two leaders are central to the land disputes affecting Mavoko and Machakos County as a whole.
The six MPs Vincent Musyoka, (Mwala), Mwengi Mutuse (Kibwezi West), Nimrod Mbai (Kitui East), Caleb Mutiso (Machakos Town), Joshua Mwalio (Masinga), and Nominated Senator Tabitha Mutinda demanded that the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) expand its list of individuals to be investigated in the land saga.
Beginning next month, rent on government-owned housing will increase by 10%.
Musyoka insisted that Kalonzo be investigated to determine how much land he allegedly benefited from through illicit land allocations in Mavoko.
“This is not a Kamba issue but a cartel of conmanship patronized by a few known politicians, and the crocodile tears from some leaders we have seen in solidarity with the same people they stole from should be ignored,” the Mwala lawmaker told the press.

MP Mutuse, for his part, stated, “We should not beat around the bush; Wiper and their leaders must acknowledge that this cartel has funded their campaign efforts.” “Kalonzo should just accept the fact that he is a recipient of funds stolen from unwitting Kenyans.”
In a swift rebuttal, however, MPs aligned with Kalonzo refuted the claims of their Kenya Kwanza colleagues and urged them to stop drawing the former Vice President’s name into the saga.
MPs Gideon Mulyungi (Mwingi Central) and Robert Basil (Yatta) accused the Kenya Kwanza government of breaking its word and demolishing people’s homes.
The two accused their counterparts of attempting to justify the government’s actions by dragging Kalonzo’s name into the land dispute.
“They said they are going to build houses, they said they will not demolish houses, now they are doing the opposite, let us not politicize this issue. Kalonzo Musyoka is clean, shame on those who are associating him with Mavoko land cartels,” said MP Basil.
“MP Mulyungi added: “I am very disturbed by the statement given by Kenya kwanza MPs, instead of empathizing with those affected, they are passing the back, this is an affront to the Kamba community and we will not accept that.”
