Kalonzo Ally Reveals Wiper’s Plans to Sponsor Gen Zs to Contest Political Positions
Makueni Senator Dan Maanzo has disclosed that the Wiper Party is actively promoting voter registration and party membership among Generation Z, particularly targeting those who are dissatisfied with the current parliamentary representation.
Senator Maanzo highlighted that the Wiper Party welcomes Gen Z individuals who are keen to pursue political roles but have been overlooked by their parties.
“We aim to motivate Gen Z to register as voters and get involved in political parties,” stated Senator Maanzo.
“The Wiper Party is ready to accept Gen Z members who want to pursue political positions but have been denied opportunities by their parties. We can support you in running for various seats across the country.”
This announcement coincides with the two-year mark since the last general election, a period during which younger Kenyans have increasingly expressed frustration, feeling that Parliament has merely become a “rubber stamp of the executive,” according to Maanzo.

He suggested that the recall clause, which enables voters to remove underperforming Members of Parliament (MPs), might be a way for Gen Z to assert their influence.
“Parliament merely serves as a rubber stamp for the executive. It’s not serving Kenyans effectively, and now the recall clause could be utilized,” Maanzo remarked.
The Wiper Party’s initiative to support Gen Z candidates is viewed as a strategic move to revitalize the party and engage younger voters and candidates who are becoming disillusioned with conventional politics.
By positioning itself as a party open to new, youthful leaders, Wiper seeks to harness the vigor and enthusiasm of Gen Z, a group that could impact future elections.
This initiative by the Kalonzo Musyoka-led party follows recent Gen Z-led anti-government protests advocating for a leadership change.
Additionally, the Wiper Party is part of the Azimio la Umoja coalition, which has faced political turbulence, prompting its members to devise strategic exits and sustainable solutions to navigate the current political challenges.
