Julius Malema Calls Out Ruto’s Actions as Hypocrisy
Julius Malema, the leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in South Africa, has criticized President William Ruto for failing to implement his election promises.
On Thursday, at the Lukenya University inauguration of the Pan African Institute, the leader of the opposition stated that he no longer recognized Ruto due to his departure from his position before the election.
Specifically, he referenced Ruto’s pledge to de-dollarize Africa, an objective that he has been advocating for among his African colleagues.
Malema was notably one of several African opposition leaders who rushed to Ruto’s defense following the latter’s victory in the 2022 presidential election.
“President William Ruto said many things and I cannot locate him these days because the things he said during the election campaigns are not what he is doing. They are different things,” he stated.
“He said that we need to do away with the dollar and build our currency but his actions are not speaking anything to doing away with the dollar.”

Conversely, Malema lodged a critique of the hospitality that King Charles III and Queen Camila were extended during their State visit last week, which was administered by Ruto’s administration.
Malema contends that greater action on the part of the Kenyan government would have been sufficient to secure an apology from the King regarding the atrocities perpetrated by British authorities during the colonial period.
“We must stay true to the course. We must remind the King and Britain of what they did to us,” he added.
“Indeed he (the King) shows no remorse. He says that it should have never happened and falls short of I apologize and I am sorry. He thinks his reign makes him more superior.”
Malema urged Ruto to maintain his position and safeguard the African continent’s interests while promoting Kenya’s foreign policy.
“The Kenyan government must decide its stance on the continent of Africa: pro-colonialist or pan-African.” “One cannot have two wishes,” Malema stated.
