    Judicial Service Commission Shortlists 20 Candidates for High Court Judge Positions(List)

    Judicial Service Commission Shortlists 20 Candidates for High Court Judge Positions(List)

    The Judicial Service Commission has chosen 20 candidates to become High Court judges.

    These candidates’ names have been sent to President William Ruto for their formal appointment.

    JSC Chairperson and Chief Justice Martha Koome stated that the selections were made after thorough discussions, focusing on merit, gender, regional and ethnic balance, and affirmative action.

    “The Commission congratulates the nominees and appreciates the contributions of all participants in the selection process,” she said.

    The list of candidates includes Moses Ado Otieno, Alice Chepngetich Bett Soi, Benjamin Mwikya Musyoka, John Lolwatan Tamar, Francis Weche Andayi, Andrew Bahati Mwamuye, Julius Kipkosgei Ng’arng’ar, Wendy Kagendo Micheni, Emily Onyando Ominde, Helene Rafaela Namisi, Alexander Muasya Muteti, and Julius Mukut Nangea.

    Additional nominees are Benjamin Kimani Njoroge, Caroline Jepyegen Kendagor, Stephen Nzisi Mbungi, Linus Poghon Kassan, Noel Onditi Adagi Inziani, Tabitha Ouya Wanyama, Rhoda Cherotich Ruto, and Joe Omido Mkutu.

    JSC announced the availability of 20 High Court judge positions on October 13, 2023.

    A total of 305 applications were received, and after closing the application period, 100 candidates were shortlisted.

    The selection interviews took place from April 3 to May 3, 2024.

    In total, 95 candidates were interviewed, 4 withdrew, and 1 was appointed as the Chief Registrar of the Judiciary.

    Article 172 (1) (a) of the Constitution empowers the Judicial Service Commission to recommend candidates for judicial appointments to the President.
