Jubilee’s Azimio Exit: Keynan Reveals Deception
Eldas Member of Parliament, Adan Keynan, has explained the reasons behind the consistent efforts of the Jubilee party to formally withdraw from the Azimio One Kenya coalition and instead become part of the governing Kenya Kwanza party.
Keynan states that the party has been excluded from the coalition’s activities, including discussions on important issues like the establishment of the coalition’s leadership.
Participating in a discussion on Citizen TV on Tuesday morning, Keynan asserted that the party has been engaged in a prolonged deceptive strategy and has formally informed the Registrar of Political Parties about this matter.
“We were not a party to the arrangement that led to the formation of that coalition, it was done by the leaders then. But I think we were duped…we were conned as Jubilee the same way Mudavadi and Wetangula were conned, history repeats itself,” he said.
“All out positions were taken by your party (ODM). Jubilee is the second-largest party in the opposition. We ought to have either the minority leader, the minority whip, or the deputy minority leader. Our position in PSC was taken even in the committee of formation,” he added.
“In this broad daylight, who will subscribe to political conmanship, we will not.”

The party’s acting Deputy chairperson, who is also a legislator, initially revealed the party’s planned departure during the same program on July 31st. On that occasion, he expressed that the party does not align with the opposition’s beliefs which resulted in the damage of assets and casualties in the course of the protests against the government.
“Jubilee has refused and will continue to refuse to be a party to maandamano that are tailor-made for the destruction of the property and lives of Kenyans,” he said.
During that period, the opposing group was conducting a protest three times a week, spanning from Wednesday to Friday.
Keynan stated that he has organized all members of the party to avoid participating in the protests, except Jeremiah Kioni, who was temporarily removed from his role as the party’s Secretary General.
Disorder has tainted the Jubilee party as divisions spearheaded by Kioni and EALA MP Kanini Kega have clashed over control of the party’s leadership.
In the meantime, there exists a temporary halt that is maintaining Kioni’s position, which comes as a result of a ruling by the High Court. This ruling has suspended a directive from the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal (PPDT) that had previously approved his suspension.
As per the viewpoint of Kega’s group, the party leadership removed Kioni and the former deputy chairperson David Murathe from their positions.
