Jubilee Secretary General Kioni Claims Gachagua desired to attend the Limuru III conference

Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni is alleging that Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and other leaders from the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) expressed a desire to participate in the Limuru III meeting.

On May 17, leaders primarily from the Mt. Kenya region, led by Kioni and Narc Kenya Party leader Martha Karua, orchestrated the Limuru III gathering, which aimed to unite political parties from the central area.

During a statement on Sunday, Kioni emphasized that the conference served as a grassroots movement focused on addressing the concerns of the Mt. Kenya populace.

According to Kioni, “Gachagua, along with Moses Kuria and other UDA members, expressed keen interest in attending Limuru III. It presented a unique opportunity for our mountain community to voice its opinions—a chance we haven’t had since the elections.”

The organizers of the socio-economic and political gathering extended an invitation to Gachagua and former President Uhuru Kenyatta to participate.

Before the conference, Gachagua urged Kioni and Karua to engage with him regarding Mt. Kenya’s issues, regardless of political differences.

Gachagua remarked, “I’ve heard about the Limuru 3 meeting. Neither Kioni nor Karua have reached out to me, despite being the most senior politician in the Mount Kenya region. As the regional leader, it’s my responsibility to convene such gatherings. If they have an agenda, my office is open for discussion.”

However, following the event, Gachagua opted not to comment, describing himself as a man of few words.

Kuria, who initially confirmed his attendance, withdrew from the meeting a day prior.

Kioni expressed optimism about the conference’s outcomes, emphasizing unity among participants.

“After the gathering, we are all on the same page. It was a grassroots movement; Martha Karua and I provided guidance, but the people voiced their concerns independently,” Kioni stated.

The Limuru III meeting led to the establishment of a new coalition for the Mt. Kenya region known as the Haki Coalition.

Comprising over 26 political parties from the area, the coalition aims to unite leaders of Mt. Kenya, irrespective of their party affiliations.

Kioni noted that former President Uhuru Kenyatta would lead the community, emphasizing his lack of political aspirations.

He emphasized that the Haki Coalition would serve as a unifying platform for Mt. Kenya’s leaders.
