Jubilee Asks for Help in Funding Campaign Activities in Mt Kenya
Secretary-General of the embattled Jubilee Party, Jeremiah Kioni, has asked Kenyans for donations to help the party finance its activities.
Kioni stated on Tuesday during a press briefing that efforts will be focused on the Mt. Kenya region to assist the former ruling party in reclaiming its former glory in the region.
Kioni noted that the Kamwene Forum would also help Mount Kenya residents address their problems.
Simultaneously, Kioni refuted rumors that Mt Kenya leaders intend to abandon Azimio and replace it with the Kamwene Forum as their preferred political vehicle.
Mount Kenya leaders from the Azimio faction have held meetings to discuss the region’s interests in the past.
Kioni, Martha Karua (NARC-Kenya), former Laikipia Governor Ndiritu Muriithi, and Party of National Unity leader Peter Munya are among the politicians who have embraced the Kamwene strategy.
“Azimio is intact but we have a forum to articulate issues of Mount Kenya region. This government has alienated our needs and hence we need to advocate for our people’s interests,” he said.
“We will also be looking for well-wishers to help us in funding for activities in the region.”

During his speech, Kioni questioned whether the government would fulfill its pledge to reduce the cost of living, given that the current administration has enacted several new levies.
“To the Mt Kenya leaders in government, stop being used to hide the fraud in this government. In the case of taxation, we gave our proposal (during the bipartisan talks) for the government to have a limit as to how much someone can be taxed in Kenya and we were told it is a pedestrian way of thinking,” he stated.
“In the coming days, we shall know who is the pedestrian because the government belongs to the people.”
Kioni added that it is time for a revision of the national formula for allocating resources based on the population of the region.
The Secretary-General inquired further as to why Mt Kenya, despite contributing enormous amounts to the tax pot, receives an unfair share of development initiatives.
The Jubilee SG urged residents of Mount Kenya to observe the advice of former President Uhuru Kenyatta and hold the government accountable.
