Jowie’s Mother’s Solemn Words if Son Found Guilty
Half a decade ago, there was uncertainty within Joseph Irungu alias Jowie’s family regarding the verdict of the murder case involving their son.
Then, they were hopeful that their son was innocent.
On Friday, the High Court rendered a verdict, declaring Jowie responsible for the murder of businesswoman Monica Kimani, while his former fiancée, ex-TV presenter Jackie Maribe, was acquitted of the charges.
Justice Grace Nzioka affirmed that the prosecution had convincingly demonstrated that Irungu murdered Kimani.
During a private conversation with NTV half a decade ago, Jowie’s mother expressed her empathy for the anguish experienced by Monica’s parents.
She expressed regret to Monica’s family if her son was proven guilty of causing Monica’s death.
“Nawahurumia kama mzazi na naskia ile uchungu ya mtu kupoteza mtoto wake but ile kitu inanishangaza nashindwa kweli ni mtoto wangu alifanya, hio ndio swali najiuliza na ningependa tu Mungu afunue nijue ukweli ndio niweze kuheal kwa sababu niko na shida,” she said.
(As a mother, I feel the pain of losing a child. But what puzzles me is whether my son did it. I ask myself that question. I ask God to unfold the truth so that I can heal because I am going through so much pain).

Jowie has since been taken into custody awaiting his sentencing on March 8, 2024.
