Jeremiah Kioni Addresses Reports of Uhuru Touring Mt Kenya
According to Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni, former President Uhuru Kenyatta has no plans to organize a Thanksgiving tour in the Mt Kenya region.
Thursday, Kioni stated to PoliticalPulseChat that he was unaware of the widely publicized plans.
The SG responded to online allegations that the former head of state would tour his home region in November to express gratitude for the region’s support during his 10-year term.
According to multiple reports, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga was also expected to accompany Uhuru on the excursions.
“I am not privy to this,” the SG stated.
PoliticalPulseChat also reached out to the office of Kenya’s fourth president for clarification on the allegations. However, our efforts were in vain as the communications officer did not respond to our calls and texts.
Wednesday saw reports of Uhuru hosting a tour in his backyard go viral on various social media platforms.
Notably, the allegations surfaced two days after former First Lady Margaret Kenyatta made her first public appearance at Brookhouse Schools’ Annual Round Square International Conference (RSIC).
In recent months, the erstwhile head of state has not made any public appearances. He was last seen in public on August 5, when, in his capacity as peace envoy to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, he visited Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni.

Museveni and Uhuru discussed the escalating tension in eastern DRC as well as the progress of peace negotiations between rival parties.
On Monday, July 24, he held a closed-door interview with media editors at his Caledonia residence near the State House, marking his last public appearance in Kenya.
At the time, he addressed the police raid on the residence of his eldest son, Jomo Kenyatta, as part of ongoing investigations into illegal possession of firearms.
He also stated that he and his family would vacation in the United Kingdom.
“I have been at peace. I have never had a good family time as I wanted. I want to go on vacation with my children and grandchildren. Do not say I have run away. I need rest, and they need me,” Uhuru told the editors.
While his current location is unknown, his associates, including Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, have reported that he is in good health and contact with the Azimio leadership.
