Jalang’o and Raila Party Encounter
At a birthday celebration on Sunday, July 30, opposition leader Raila Odinga and Lang’ata MP Phelix Odiwour alias Jalang’o shared a platform.
Raila and Jalang’o attended the birthday party of Caleb Hamisi’s daughter, a Saboti member of parliament, held at his residence in Karen.
Jalang’o is among the leaders who have vowed to collaborate with the Kenya Kwanza government, despite the party’s stance on critical policies such as the Finance Act.
“I was honored to host Raila Odinga, Eugene Wamalwa, Wilcyliffe Oparanya, Mwang Wairia, and David Pkosing at my daughter’s birthday party in Karen, following their meeting with former President Uhuru Kenyatta,” Hamisi said.

“Thank you, Honorable Caleb Hamisi, my brother, for inviting me to your home to celebrate your daughter’s birthday; what a night! “May God bless your home, and may your daughter live to blow out a thousand candles,” the representative wished.
Some supporters have seized the opportunity to express divergent opinions regarding the meeting.
Jalang’o’s Rebellion
On February 7, 2023, Odiwour was among a group of opposition politicians who met with President Ruto at the State House.
The action of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM)-elected representatives was perceived as rebellion and treachery of the party leader.
Following the meeting, Jalang’o clarified claims that Ruto offered him Ksh50 million to oust the former Prime Minister.
“The President is aware of my support for Raila and the ODM. “He even suggested that I divulge details of our development-focused meeting,” the lawmaker disclosed.
Following the unfolding of events, ODM convened a disciplinary meeting with the recalcitrant MPs.
In recent years, Jalang’o has avoided opposition-organized events while attending those hosted by the President and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua.
