Iraqi Immigrant Stabs Teen to Get Deported

This is the shocking moment an Iraqi immigrant stabbed a British university student because he desired deportation.

18-year-old Ellis Wheeler was attacked by 28-year-old Rebaz Mohammed as he walked through a forested park on his way back from the gym.

Mohammed pulls a kitchen knife from his coat, lunges at Ellis’ back in broad daylight, and punctures his lung with the blade.

Shortly before the vicious assault, Mohammed can be seen approaching the student and asking him if he knows kickboxing before swinging at him.

Mr. Wheeler managed to escape but lost consciousness before being rushed to the hospital for surgery.

Mohammed, who unlawfully entered the United Kingdom, was apprehended at the scene and told police he attacked his victim so he could be deported to Iraq.

The 28-year-old, who has previously served time in prison, appeared before the Southampton Crown Court after pleading guilty to intentionally causing great bodily harm and possessing a knife blade.

Following the “indiscriminate” attack in Southampton last December, he was sentenced to six years in prison with a four-year license extension.

The court heard that his victim, a first-year student at Solent University, missed his exams and still has trouble sleeping due to anxiety.

The student escaped the assault, but lost consciousness; a “heroic” friend dialed 999 and applied pressure to his horrific wound until police arrived.

He was transported to the hospital, where he underwent surgery for a collapsed lung and spent five days under observation.

Andrew Houston, the prosecutor, stated that Mohammed knew he had to take action to avoid deportation and had consulted with individuals familiar with the immigration system.

He had previously been cautioned for criminal damage and assault, and in May 2022 he was sentenced to 12 weeks in prison for racially motivated harassment and stalking.

Mohammed, who resided in a hotel in Bournemouth, Dorset, was “making what efforts he could be deported,” but lacked work and money, according to the defense attorney Richard Tutt.

Mr. Tutt stated, “He believed, based on what he had been told, that he had to commit a sufficiently grave offense.

“He appears to be a very naive individual. He has felt regret or, at the very least, sorrow.”

Mohammed was criticized by the sentencing judge, Brian Forster KC, for inflicting the horrific injuries to “achieve his end.”

He stated, “Anyone who commits a knife attack does so by accident.”

“This was an attack without discrimination. The victim could have been any member of our community.

“You were willing to inflict a severe injury with a weapon to accomplish your own goal. You were capable of killing the victim.”

The judge stated that the victim’s friend “may have saved his life” and awarded him £250.
