International Duo Nabbed with Explosives Near Kenya-Tanzania Border
Two individuals of foreign origin have been apprehended along the Kenya-Tanzania border for their involvement in gold exploration using explosives valued at approximately Ksh.9 million.
The Migori County Police Commander, Francis Nguli, confirmed the arrests of the suspects and the seizure of the explosives, attributing their capture to a tip-off from vigilant members of the public.
Nguli disclosed that law enforcement intercepted the suspects and the explosives while they were being transported in a Probox vehicle, en route to an undisclosed destination.
He highlighted that the explosives were being surreptitiously brought into Kenya from Tanzania in violation of legal channels. Additionally, the arrested individuals lacked the requisite travel documents permitting their presence within the country’s borders.

Emphasizing the detainees’ status, the county police commander stated that the two suspects are currently in police custody awaiting further interrogation and subsequent legal proceedings.
Commending the proactive involvement of the public, Mr. Nguli expressed gratitude for the timely tip-off received by security officers, enabling swift action. He pledged the police’s continuous collaboration with local communities to curb illicit activities prevalent along the Kenya-Tanzania border.
Mr. Nguli reiterated the commitment of law enforcement to closely engage with citizens in efforts to stem illegal cross-border trade between Kenya and Tanzania.This collaborative approach aims to enhance border security and thwart unlawful activities within the region.
