Ichung’wah and Cheruiyot Issue Demands to Kalonzo After Uhuru Meeting
On Sunday, senior leaders of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) issued demands to the leader of the Wiper Party, Kalonzo Musyoka, after he met with former President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The majority leader of the National Assembly, Kimani Ichung’wah, and his counterpart in the Senate, Aaron Cheruiyot, launched at Kalonzo, requesting that he inform Uhuru to confess to alleged misappropriation during his term.
According to the two leaders, Uhuru allegedly chose to appear in public on Sunday after becoming aware that Ichung’wah intended to initiate the procedure for establishing a State Capture Commission.
The two leaders are, coincidentally, co-chairs of the National Dialogue Committee (NADOC), which Kalonzo and Ichung’wah preside over.
“It is time we had a candid discussion ( in public) with Uhuru Kenyatta on the economy, the effects of state capture on the economy, and the mess we are sorting in this Country’s economy. Please get him on stage,” Ichung’wah told Kalonzo.
Ichung’wah further expressed his appreciation to Kalonzo for reintroducing the former president to the political arena.

He elaborated that Kenyans could only learn the truth about the extent to which taxpayer funds were misappropriated during Uhuru’s presidency in this manner.
Cheruiyot, who agreed with his counterpart from the National Assembly and a fellow member of NADOC, stated that the Kenya Kwanza administration was making progress towards recovering misappropriated public funds.
He clarified that Uhuru’s return to prominence was solely to undermine the State Capture Commission’s initiative.
“I agree with Kenyans telling us to slow down on taxation and go hard on recovering what’s stashed abroad first,” Cheruiyot stated.
Uhuru delivered a political remark on Sunday, accusing the administration of President William Ruto of operating on pretexts.
He claimed that rather than accepting accountability, the Kenya Kwanza administration placed the blame on him for each error.
