‘I Am The Leader Of Mt Kenya’: Gachagua Declares As He Orders Stop To Attacks On Uhuru
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has called on leaders from the Mt. Kenya region to stop attacking retired President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Gachagua said he has held dialogue with the leaders to ensure that Uhuru is protected as he is also still a son of the mountain, despite their political differences in the 2022 election.
“We agree with all the leaders and I told them that even Uhuru is one of us. We were opponents, but elections are now behind us. Our retired president deserves respect and no one should harass him,” he said during an interview with iNooro FM on Friday.
The DP also commended Uhuru for staying away from active politics, noting that his status as an elder should now prohibit him from engaging in the theatrics of the political scene.
“There was a problem when he made a comeback to politics, it was difficult because we wanted him as our leader to leave the political scene with the dignity befitting a leader of his stature,” stated Gachagua.

“For 4, 6 months now, he has carried himself with the decorum befitting an elder, a king and I’m telling all MPs to give him respect.”
DP Gachagua went ahead to christen himself the current de facto leader of Mt. Kenya, further rubbishing reports of any perceived political division in the region.
“There’s no division in the mountain. The mountain has one leader, selected and anointed by God…Rigathi Gachagua…and voted in by 7.2 million Kenyans,” he declared.
The country’s second-in-command added that he is consolidating the people of Mt. Kenya, stating that this process will see him reach out to everybody including Uhuru.
“When the time comes and our spirit is calm. We will talk again. Even with those in the opposition. We are not at war. I am consolidating the house,” he said.
