Husband of Slain Ohangla Dancer Urged to Surrender as Investigation Intensifies
Detectives are urging Jackson Bambo, the husband of the slain Ohangla dancer Sheila Odoyo, known as Sheila Wegesha, to turn himself in. They are seeking him in connection with Sheila’s murder at her Athi River residence on Thursday. The police view him as a person of interest in the investigation.
Following the murder, investigators found a car Bambo had been using abandoned in Athi River, Machakos county. An officer involved in the case has called for Bambo’s cooperation, emphasizing that he may not necessarily be the perpetrator but is crucial to the investigation.
The vehicle Bambo used on the day of the incident, a Mitsubishi Outlander, was discovered abandoned near the Kencom area in Nairobi’s CBD. Police suspect he may have switched cars before disappearing, with his last known location being traced to Narok.
As of now, Bambo has made no contact with authorities or his family regarding the situation. The motive behind Sheila’s murder remains unclear.
An autopsy conducted by Dr. Michieka Michieka at Shalom Community Hospital mortuary revealed that Sheila died due to exsanguination, or severe blood loss. The family later moved her body to another mortuary.

Police are continuing their investigation into the murder. Bambo reportedly left the house without communicating with their 18-year-old daughter, who was present at the time of the incident.
Sheila, aged 38, was discovered with her throat slit, indicating a violent assault. Her body was found by her daughter in bed in the Hill View estate, several hours after the presumed time of death on May 9th.
The daughter, upon discovering her mother’s body, raised the alarm. Sheila had been lying in a pool of blood for several hours, suggesting she had been dead for some time before being found.
The couple’s troubled relationship, marked by ongoing disputes, is believed to be a factor in the murder. According to their daughter, she had prepared lunch for her mother and went to wake her when she discovered the tragic scene.
After processing the crime scene, the police moved Sheila’s body to the mortuary for further investigation. The couple was known for running a popular bar in the Umoja area of Nairobi, and Sheila herself was a well-known figure in the Ohangla dance community. Her death prompted an outpouring of grief on social media.
