Raila Odinga, Mahamoud Ali Youssouf, and Richard Randriamandrato will compete in the eagerly awaited Mjadala Afrika Leadership Debate 2024 on December 13, 2024.
The event will feature the three contenders for the African Union Commission Chairperson position, taking place from 19:00 to 21:00 East African Time (EAT) at the African Union Headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
What is Mjadala Afrika?
“Mjadala,” the Swahili term for “debate,” symbolizes efforts to promote transparency and merit-based selection in leadership processes.
During the debate, the candidates will present their plans for advancing Africa’s Agenda 2063, tackling key policy challenges, and proposing solutions for the continent’s growth.

Public broadcasters in all AU member states will air the debate live in six official AU languages: English, French, Arabic, Portuguese, Spanish, and Swahili.
The Ethiopian Broadcasting Corporation (EBC) will oversee coordination.
DSTV Africa will offer two pop-up channels for English and French coverage.
