HOLY OUTRAGE! Catholic Bishops BLAST Politicians for Dragging Kenyans into 2027 Chaos
The Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB) has expressed concern about the early involvement of religious leaders and politicians in political campaigns ahead of the 2027 elections. They believe that some leaders have already started engaging in partisan politics too soon.
In a strong statement, the bishops condemned the growing trend of ethnic-based politics, warning that it is creating serious divisions in the country.
โThis early political activity is distracting the nation from important development matters. Instead of focusing on improving the country, leaders are turning their attention to election campaigns,โ said Archbishop Maurice Muhatia Makumba.
He also pointed out that using ethnic identity to fuel political violence and divisions is dangerous.
The bishops’ concerns come as both government and opposition leaders travel around the country, claiming they are on consultation or development visits.
President William Ruto has already toured several regions, including western, northeastern, and coastal areas, under the pretext of development projects. He is also expected to visit Nyanza in the coming week.

At the same time, opposition leaders, including Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, have been attending various events and using them to criticize the government while laying the groundwork for the next elections, which are still over two years away.
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has also begun what he calls consultative meetings at his residence in Wamunyoror, as he prepares for the elections.
In another move, Martha Karua, who was Raila Odingaโs running mate in the last election, has rebranded her NARC-Kenya party, now calling it the Peopleโs Liberation Party (PLP), in readiness for the elections.
The bishops see all these activities as premature political campaigns. However, they have urged the government to quickly set up the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) so that by-elections can be held in areas that currently lack representation.
โWe urge the government to update the voter register immediately and organize by-elections for vacant positions. It is also important to encourage more youth to register as voters so they can have a say in the countryโs leadership,โ the bishops added.
Meanwhile, the IEBC has announced that conducting the next general election will require over Ksh60 billion, a budget that has already raised concerns.
