Health CS Nakhumicha Lands Prestigious International Role
On Tuesday, January 9, Susan Nakhumicha, who serves as the Health Cabinet Secretary, was named as a member of the Board for the Global Alliance for Women’s Health by the World Economic Forum.
Anne Waiguru, the Chairperson of the Council of Governors (CoG), expressed her joy in a statement upon witnessing her longtime acquaintance successfully attaining a prestigious role on the global platform.
“What a proud moment for Kenya and a hearty congratulations to my sister CS Nakhumicha for your appointment to the World Economic Forum’s Global Alliance for Women’s Health,”
“Our UHC aspiration for all has an excellent ambassador in you on the global stage,” Waiguru remarked.
The Global Alliance for Women’s Health Board, initiated by the World Economic Forum, is a strategic effort by the international financial body to enhance the welfare of women globally. Its focus is on advocating for health equality for women and fostering cooperation among various parties to tackle significant health issues.
In her new position, Nakhumicha will concentrate on advocating for the rights of women’s health and promoting their visibility on an international scale.
The Cabinet Secretary will join the board responsible for creating a new investment strategy supported by evidence, emphasizing the societal and economic benefits of improving the health of girls and women.

Additionally, she will have the responsibility of collaboratively developing fresh storylines that connect with individuals involved in politics, finance, and business, illustrating the reasons behind investing in women’s health.
This occurs merely a year following CS Nakhumicha’s assignment as the Head of the Health Ministers Conference for the East, Central, and Southern African Region (ECSA).
On February 9, 2023, the CS declared on her social media platforms her commitment to enhancing healthcare services throughout various areas as she unveiled her new role.
“I will endeavor to fulfill this vision and to work with all member states to attain the best health standards for our people,” CS Nakhumicha stated.
CS Nakhumicha is a health supplies chain management expert.
Before her appointment to the cabinet, she gained experience across different institutions, including the Kenya Medical Supplies Agency (KEMSA). At one juncture, she held the position of Warehouse Operations Officer at the Mission for Essential Drugs and Supplies.
