On Monday, several officers from the General Service Unit (GSU) surrounded the office of Governor Simba Arati of Kisii at Gusii Stadium.

According to reports, the Governor was prevented from entering the stadium where he maintains a secondary office.

The officers were transported to the location in a police truck along with another police vehicle, but it remains unclear what they are after.

According to some sources, the GSU surrounded the office after receiving orders from on high.

According to additional reports, the GSU battalion raided some of the governor’s offices located in the county’s largest stadium.

In a previous address, Arati stated that the battalion had raided his property at night in an attempt to conduct the raid, but he preferred that any investigations be conducted during the day.

His Sunday speech, the county administrator pleaded with the national government not to send police officers to injure Kisii’s youth, the majority of whom depend on boda boda business for their livelihood.

In addition, he claimed that political leaders of national parties had developed a propensity to destabilize devolved units by dividing their young.

“The National Government and I are complementary. There are two levels of governance, the national and county levels. This tendency to divide our youth along political lines must end. All of these individuals are my people, he declared to the congregation.

“We have 95,000 motorcyclists, but I beseech them to maintain calm. If you dispatch police officers to harm our youth, we will not consent.”

In recent months, Arati has been at odds with the governing Kenya Kwanza as a result of reports from some leaders of the ruling coalition that security would be withdrawn for certain governors.

Despite his promise to cooperate with the ruling government, he insisted he would not support the Kenya Kwanza government.

The individual who hurls obscenities at us cannot be tolerated. We are Kenyans, not foreigners. During a September rally, he stated, “The person who discusses stocks tells us how to act so that we can regain our security.”

Arati is the Deputy Chairperson of the Orange Democratic Movement’s (ODM) National Executive Committee (NEC) as of September 8, 2023, when she assumed the position.
