Govt Announces KPSEA Results Will Be Released in 2 Weeks

Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu on Monday, January 8 announced when the results of the 2023 Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) will be released.

Speaking at the Moi Girlsโ€™ High School in Eldoret, while announcing the KCSE 2023 results, the CS confirmed that the results would be announced in two weeks.

โ€œThe KCSE Examination will be followed by the release of KPSEA reports for candidates who sat the Grade 6 assessment in 2023 in the next 2 weeks,โ€ Machogu stated.

Machogu further advised teachers and parents to take advantage of the KPSEA results to monitor learner progress.

โ€œI urge all parents, and teachers to scrutinize the KPSEA reports to ensure they use the results to monitor learner progress,โ€ he added.

1.2 million students sat for the KPSEA examinations in 2023, which commenced on October 30, 2023, and ended on November 1, 2023.

Beginning next year, KPSEA will replace the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) which will be phased out.

In the new examinations, candidates will be answering 30 questions, as opposed to the usual 50 questions.

The English language and Mathematics papers were tackled on the first day, followed by Integrated Science and Kiswahili on the second day.

Art and Craft, Music, and Religious Education in the Creative Art and Social Studies subject are tackled on the last day.

National Assembly Minority Leader Opiyo Wandayi had on Saturday expressed concern over the delay in the release of the KPSEA examination results, stating that it was inhibiting the transition into grade 7.

“The 2023 KPSEA results have not been released, inhibiting the transition to Grade 7, which is to open school on 8/01/2024,” Wandayi stated.

President William Ruto issuing the KCPE and KPSEA National Examinations at the Kikuyu Township Primary School, Kiambu County on October 30, 2023.
