Governor Mutahi Kahiga Praises President Ruto for Nyeri Visit
Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga has thanked President William Ruto for visiting Nyeri County.
Speaking on Tuesday, April 1, Kahiga said that Nyeri residents deserve government projects since they supported the current administration in the 2022 General Elections.
He dismissed critics opposing Ruto’s visit, saying that the President’s presence is important for development.
“The President should not be told not to come to Nyeri; we want him to come again and again to bring us development. We are the ones who voted for this government, and we deserve development,” he said.
Past Concerns Over Deputy President’s Visit
Kahiga’s remarks come two months after he expressed frustration over Deputy President Kithure Kindiki’s visit to Nyeri County without informing his office.
Speaking on Wednesday, February 5, Kahiga called the lack of communication disrespectful. He said he did not know the reason for Kindiki’s visit and was unsure if he was supposed to attend any event.
**“The other day, I saw the Deputy President in Nyeri. I don’t understand why some people want conflicts for no reason. The Governor’s office represents the people.
“When a high-ranking leader visits, we should be informed. In this case, we were not notified. We just heard he was in the county. Is that right?”** he asked.
Call for Cooperation Between Governments
Kahiga emphasized that national and county governments should work together for the benefit of the people.
“Offices should respect each other. When they invite me to meetings in Nairobi, I attend. The National and County governments should cooperate,” he added.
The Governor’s comments highlight the need for better coordination between leaders to ensure smooth governance and effective service delivery to the people of Nyeri County.
