Government Releases Official List and Prices of Approved CBC Textbooks
The government has responded to growing concerns about counterfeit textbooks by releasing an official list of approved materials and their prices for the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC). This move aims to protect parents from purchasing fake books as they prepare for school reopening.
Over the weekend, the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) published the list, ensuring parents can access genuine and approved coursework tools. The institute also provided recommended retail prices to prevent stakeholders from being overcharged.
Approved Grade 9 Textbooks and Prices
Among the approved books for Grade 9 are:

- Top Scholar Social Studies Learner’s Book: Ksh860
- Moran Agriculture Learner’s Book: Ksh350
- Hummingbird Creative Arts and Sports Learner’s Book: Ksh600
- Comprehensive Integrated Science Learner’s Book: Ksh600
- Spotlight Integrated Science Learner’s Book: Ksh701
- MTP Agriculture Learner’s Book: Ksh638
- Storymoja Agriculture Learner’s Book: Ksh560.34
- Healthy Planet Agriculture Learner’s Book: Ksh972
- Longhorn Integrated Science Learner’s Book: Ksh750
For foreign language studies:
