Gold Scam Heist: 4 Suspects Arrested for Assaulting, Robbing Foreign Couple Ksh.13.5 Million
Four suspects have been arrested for allegedly assaulting and robbing a foreign couple of Ksh.15.5 million in gold theft.
According to a statement released by the DCI on Thursday, three of the suspects were apprehended in Lavington, while the fourth was apprehended in a Runda Glory Valley office building in Nairobi.
Jack Ouma Okwiri, Nashon Otieno Angudha, Felix Ochieng’ Nyongesa, and Ronald Arani Kirera are believed to have enticed the couple, an Australian man and his Ugandan wife, into Kenya from Uganda by proposing a gold business transaction in Nairobi.
The couple maintained contact with ‘Raymond from England,’ who introduced them to Felix, who posed as the seller.
“After a series of WhatsApp conversations, Felix asked the couple to meet him at Village Market in Gigiri, Nairobi on Oct 28, where they were to do the business,” said DCI while narrating the ordeal.
“Once at the agreed venue, Felix sent a driver who picked them up in a Toyota Prado and drove them to the office setting building along Glory Rd in Runda, where more than 10 men lay in wait.”

The visitors, however, were assaulted upon their arrival at the agreed-upon location, with heavy blows being hurled at the man and the wife being handcuffed, slapped, and inappropriately touched.
According to the DCI, the couple had a total of sh.9 million ($60,000) and Ksh.4.5 million ($30,000) in jewelry stolen.
“Scarred, badly injured, and writhing in agonizing pain, the couple was hurled back in the Prado and dumped at Rehema Hse within the CBD. Good Samaritans helped them to a South B hospital where they were treated before reporting to DCI Gigiri,” DCI wrote.
A subsequent manhunt led to the capture of the four suspects.
According to the DCI, money counting devices, metallic boxes, counterfeit mine certificates, customs reflector jackets, military boots, KRA certificates, stamps, a Kenyan flag, and counterfeit gold metal bars were recovered from the Runda office.
The four will be charged with armed robbery, attempted rape, and abduction.
