Gladys Wanga is still in ODM, Ruto assures Homa Bay residents
President William Ruto on Saturday assured the residents of Homa Bay that their governor, Gladys Wanga is still a member of the ODM Party.
The president noted that he had toured the region for development matters and wanted to work with the local leaders for the betterment of the region.
“Wacha niseme kwamba Gladys Wanga bado yuko ODM, nimeskia watu wakisema ametoka ODM, hio sio kweli, niko hapa kwa mambo maendeleo,” he said.
This is loosely translated to: Let me say that Gladys Wanga is still in ODM, I have heard people saying she has left the party. I am in the region for developments.
On her part, Wanga stated that it was her constitutional right to welcome the President to the county, as the national government must work with the county government.
“Kuna watu wanasema nimetoka ODM, hapana, katiba inaniruhusu kukaribisha rais katika maeneo yangu, mimi bado niko ODM, ndani, Ndani, ndani,” she said.

Wanga assured the president that he was welcome to the county, and noted that it was not his first time in Homa Bay.
“I agreed with you (Ruto) when you said every region in the country deserves to be developed despite how they voted. As the governor of Homa Bay, I was voted in as an ODM candidate, but the constitution states that both governments( county and national) should work together,” she said.
The president has launched several projects in the county including the construction and rehabilitation of the Sh600-Million Homa Bay Pier, which according to Ruto will take six months to complete.
Ruto also opened a United Democratic Alliance Party office in the county.
He also inspected the construction of the Affordable Housing project.
Additionally, Ruto agreed to work with the county to build a Sh350 million modern fish market.
