Gathoni Wamuchomba Reveals Genesis of Her Fallout With UDA
Gathoni Wamuchomba, the representative for the Githunguri constituency in Parliament, has disclosed that she’s faced significant persecution due to her political position.
On Wednesday, March 27, Wamuchomba elaborated on her rift with the governing party headed by President William Ruto.
As per the Member of Parliament, she claims to be the most targeted leader in Kenya, facing opposition from UDA party officials due to her political stance.
“Victimised to the extent of people coming to my constituency to fight me politically, in physical presence. People from Githunguri know what I’m talking about,” she stated.
Wamuchomba observed the day after introducing a fresh ‘opposition’ squad that the current opposition’s inactivity and silence were letting down the Kenyan populace.
“The opposition in Kenya seems to have been muzzled and the voices of reason are fading away. The voices of reason from civil society are fading away. The media seems to be intimidated,” she stated.

The lawmaker additionally criticized the media for not adequately monitoring the actions of the government.
“I have been in the media, he has been in the media for many years and we can confidently tell you that the vigor and the muscle the media had to check over government is no longer there,” she explained.
On Tuesday, Wamuchomba and Embakasi East Member of Parliament, Babu Owino, introduced a fresh opposition coalition dedicated to advocating for the rights of Kenyan citizens.
The team comprises Caleb Amisi, who represents Saboti Constituency in Parliament, alongside Charles Nguna, Amos Mwago from Starehe constituency, Catherine Omanyo, the Women Representative for Busia, and Mark Mwenje, the MP for Embakasi West.
“We have issues that we will be addressing from time to time. This is the team that will give direction in this country because we have seen a bit of laxity in the opposition,” Babu Owino noted.
“Not limited to holding rallies, not limited to calling for maandamano’s; regional in all counties and constituencies.”
