Garissa Water Company MD Mohamud Dolal Arrested For Forging KCSE Certificate
On Thursday, Dolal Mohamed Mohamud, the Managing Director of Garissa Water and Sewerage Company, was apprehended by detectives from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) for purportedly falsifying his educational credentials.
Mohamud is believed to have forged his Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) document to secure enrollment at the University of Nairobi (UoN).
Eric Ngumbi, the spokesperson for the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), verified the arrest of Mohamud. He emphasized that the accused, who allegedly obtained a Grade D in his KCSE exams, forged his certificate to inaccurately show a C+ grade, which is a mandatory requirement for university enrollment.
The commission highlighted that if Mohamud is proven guilty of the reported wrongdoing, he will be compelled to surrender the salaries and benefits he gained while serving as the head of the Water Agency.

In a follow-up communication directed to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), Abdi Mohamud, the Deputy CEO of EACC, mentioned that the legal representatives of Mohamud have subsequently reached out to the anti-corruption agency.
“The advocates have also supplied the commission with certified copies of all the certificates earned by Dolal. We are convinced that, had Dolal presented the fake KCSE certificate to the University of Nairobi as alleged, he would have been registered for a degree course and not for a certificate course since the qualification for a degree course is C+,” the letter read in part.
“The reason why Mr. Dolal had to start with a Certificate and move on to a Diploma and finally to a degree is because he scored D in the KCSE and this is supported by the evidence in the file. The file is returned to you for review of your earlier decision to charge Mr. Dolal.”
Mohamud, presently detained at Garissa Police Station, is anticipated to appear in court on Friday for formal charges.
