Gachagua’s Privileges Under Siege: UDA Insider Speaks Out

Githunguri MP and United Democratic Alliance (UDA) supporter Gathoni Wamuchomba asserted on Monday that Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is facing repercussions for his fallout with the ruling party.

While discussing the issue on Citizen TV, Wamuchomba highlighted that during a church visit on Sunday, it was evident that some of Gachaguaโ€™s privileges had been revoked.

The lawmaker, a staunch defender of Gachagua, pointed out that the Deputy President is entitled to a security detail and a convoy, which were notably absent during the outing.

“For instance, yesterday I accompanied the DP to church. He is entitled to certain privileges, including an escort and security. Can anyone confirm if he received those as Deputy President of Kenya?” she questioned.

“I spent the entire day with him, and he did not receive the privileges he is entitled to. Not at all.”

“Who is responsible for stripping these privileges from the Deputy President’s office? Who is attempting to erase the DP from the executive President’s agenda?” Wamuchomba continued.

As a result, she urged President William Ruto to address the nation and uphold his commitment to protect his deputy, recalling the challenges Ruto faced during his own time as Deputy President.

She emphasized that the President, elected by all Kenyans including those from Mt. Kenya, owes them an explanation regarding the situation.

Wamuchomba also suggested that the decision to impeach Gachagua ultimately lies with the President, who she believes should publicly declare his position on the matter.

“I believe the President himself must endorse the impeachment of Rigathi Gachagua. What we need from him isnโ€™t just a promise from the roof of a car or a press statement denying impeachment; we want him to appear on Citizen TV and other stations to affirm his support for his deputy as he promised during the Kasarani nomination,” she stated.

“I was present when we nominated the President as our UDA candidate, and he vowed in front of the cameras that he would ensure no Deputy President would suffer the trials he endured.”

Wamuchomba also revealed that plans to impeach the Deputy President are advancing, with discussions set for Parliament next week.

Moreover, ousted UDA Secretary General Cleophas Malala disclosed that Suna East MP Junet Mohamed and Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma have been assigned to lead the impeachment efforts.

In response, Gachagua warned President Ruto to be cautious, as allowing the impeachment to move forward would lead to severe backlash from his supporters.

โ€œI urge my boss, President William Ruto, to be careful and make the right choices to keep our party united. We should avoid chaos and not reintroduce the politics of betrayal,โ€ he advised.

โ€œOur people despise betrayal and are unforgiving towards those who deceive them. I implore my brother not to succumb to such temptations, as they will not forget easily.”
