Gachagua to Cabinet Secretaries: Absolute Loyalty to Ruto Required
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has called on the newly appointed Cabinet Secretaries to show unwavering support for President William Ruto, emphasizing that allegiance to the president is mandatory.
“Loyalty to the head of state and government is absolute. You are now part of a team with a single leader,” Gachagua stated.
He also cautioned the new Cabinet members to steer clear of corruption, stressing the importance of integrity in their roles.
“Today, youโve been briefed on your responsibilities, the broader economic landscape, and the corruption risks to avoid, as outlined by the EACC,” Gachagua advised the Cabinet.
At the National Defense University induction ceremony, Gachagua encouraged the Cabinet to practice servant leadership and maintain an open-door policy.
“Donโt confine yourself to your officeโengage with your environment and seek genuine feedback. An open-door policy will foster transparency and idea sharing,” he said.

“We are bound by oath and honor to act strictly within the Constitution and use our power for the long-term benefit of the people,” Gachagua emphasized.
He also addressed the recent Gen-Z protests, asserting that the demand for improved leadership must be acknowledged.
“Youth brings both great potential and significant pressure. Our leadership’s challenge is to drive a revolution in industry, agriculture, and technology to create millions of jobs, especially for the youth,” he observed.
Advocating for strict constitutional adherence, Gachagua urged the Cabinet to put aside personal opinions, as their statements will now be seen as official policy.
“Collective responsibility is key. Once a decision is made by the President or the Cabinet, it must be defended with full commitment. Personal views are irrelevant; your statements are now policy declarations,” the Deputy President concluded.
