Gachagua Responds to Ruto’s Move to Court Uhuru
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has addressed the recent encounter between President William Ruto and former President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Gachagua rejected the notion that individualsโ meetings can be controlled, emphasizing, โWe cannot dictate who should meet whom. We lack the authority to impose such restrictions.โ
He further encouraged widespread dialogue, urging people to unite for productive discussions aimed at benefiting the nation.
Additionally, Gachagua disclosed that he and other leaders have been holding confidential meetings to strategize for the country’s future.
โWe are also meeting, and there are aspects of our discussions that weโve agreed to keep private,โ he said, hinting at ongoing behind-the-scenes efforts.

These remarks followed President Rutoโs visit to Kenyattaโs Ichaweri residence in Gatundu, where the two leaders reportedly focused on issues of national unity, political inclusivity, and governance.
Rutoโs outreach to Kenyatta has been seen as an attempt to ease the increasing criticism his administration has faced, especially from the Mt. Kenya region.
The pivotal moment occurred earlier this year during the impeachment of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Despite the conflict, Gachagua demonstrated his political resilience. After the impeachment, he reoriented himself toward opposition leaders, pledging to establish a strong third force in Kenyan politics.
His speeches grew increasingly defiant, often portraying Rutoโs administration as disconnected from the struggles of ordinary Kenyans.
