Gachagua Clarifies Controversial Photos of Ruto-Raila Meeting

After photographs of President William Ruto and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga meeting for two consecutive days went viral, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Thursday, May 18 downplayed rumors of secret handshake talks between the two men.

During a meeting with country coordinators of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) in Nairobi, Gachagua accused Raila of seeking photo opportunities with the President.

He stated that Raila wanted his team to use photographs to create the impression that Ruto was planning something.

“You have witnessed him chasing after the President to take a photograph for his team. The president has no issue with photo opportunities.

“Tell him we will be in Limuru even on Saturday. “This is the limit,” Gachagua said.

The DP assured the regime’s supporters that there would be no handshake, even though he had no objections to the meeting.

After March 2018, he explained, Ruto would not shake hands with Raila due to his experience with President Uhuru Kenyatta.

“I would like to inform them that Ruto is stricter about the handshake than I am. This experiment was the worst thing to occur in the history of American politics.

The DP asserted, “Let them assume their rightful position and keep the government in check.”

Gachagua, on the other hand, disclosed that they were preparing for future elections and would open UDA offices throughout the country.

He noted that the offices would function similarly to government offices, with employees required to report to work between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Gachagua indicated that their vision was for UDA to dominate national politics for over a century.

The DP was referring to Ruto and Raila’s meeting at the Karasani Stadium on May 13 for the Kip Keino Classic. This occurred after the two had attended the funeral of Mukami Kimathi in Nyandarua.

Notably, Raila and Ruto attended the Mashemeji derby between Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards on May 14 at the same venue.
