Former President Uhuru Kenyatta joined distinguished guests on Friday, December 27, in Nairobi County to celebrate the wedding of Wendy Bochere Okengo, daughter of ex-Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i, and Frankline Kashindi Luseno.
In his speech, Uhuru shared heartfelt wishes for the newlyweds, underscoring the pillars of a successful marriage.
“Marriage thrives on love, trust, and respect from both partners,” he said. “Wendy and Frankline, as you embark on this journey, may your home be a haven of peace and happiness, and may your bond inspire others.”
Uhuru also emphasized the role of family in promoting unity and social harmony.
“Today’s occasion reminds us of the power of togetherness and the values that knit us as a community,” he added.

The high-profile event attracted notable personalities, including former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka, veteran leader Sam Ongeri, and Nyamira Governor Amos Nyaribo. Former ICT Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru and ex-Interior Permanent Secretary Dr. Karanja Kibicho were also in attendance.
Fred Matiang’i, a central figure in Uhuru’s administration from 2013 to 2022, held several key cabinet roles. Initially appointed as Cabinet Secretary for ICT in 2013, he transitioned to the Education Ministry in 2015, driving critical reforms.
In 2017, following the passing of Interior CS Joseph Ole Nkaissery, Matiang’i became acting Interior CS and officially assumed the role in 2018.
His influence expanded in 2019 when he was named chairperson of the National Development Implementation and Communication Cabinet Committee, tasked with overseeing government projects.
Renowned for his dedication, Matiang’i earned the title “super CS” for his wide-ranging responsibilities and unwavering support for Uhuru’s vision.
