Fired-up Kioni Hits Back at Kega in Jubilee Battle
Former Ndaragwa MP Jeremiah Kioni has criticized his East Africa Legislative Assembly (EALA) counterpart Kanini Kega over a statement expelling him from the Jubilee Party.
Kega and Kioni are currently engaged in a fierce struggle for the leadership of the Jubilee Party, with each claiming to be the organization’s rightful Secretary General.
Kioni, along with Vice Chairman David Murathe and the party’s National Treasurer Kagwe Gichohi, dismissed Kega’s accusations that he had betrayed the party’s former leader, former President Uhuru Kenyatta, when he addressed the press on Friday, mere moments after the news of their dismissal broke.
Kioni mocked Kega by implying that Uhuru financed his (Kega’s) 2022 political campaign and nominated him to EALA, but that he has now turned his back on the former Head of State and is mocking him about the party’s leadership.
“Can you imagine a group of individuals calling the former President before a disciplinary committee? “The person who nominated you for EALA, for Parliament, and who even funded your campaigns when you ran for MP,” said Kioni.

The former member of parliament for Ndaragwa also admonished the Kega-led faction of Jubilee for unconstitutionally abandoning the party without consulting the public.
He challenged any elected MPs who wished to join the President William Ruto-led Kenya Kwanza to instead return to the people and seek re-election on the ballots of other parties.
“If you wish to move away from your party, not just Jubilee but also ODM, Wiper, and the rest, and you believe the grass is greener in Kenya Kwanza, go back to the people and hold a by-election; don’t be the con artist we’ve seen,” he said.
Friday, Kega announced the expulsion of Kioni and Murathe for gross insubordination, lack of respect for party organs, and refusal to perform party duties.
As a result, he dismissed the National Delegates Congress (NDC) meeting that Uhuru announced on Monday, stating that any decisions reached will not be legally binding.
