Father Arrested for Allegedly Beating Daughter to Death

Authorities in Chesikaki, Bungoma County, are investigating a tragic case where a father allegedly beat his 22-year-old daughter to death.

Area Chief Maurice Otala disclosed that the 41-year-old suspect took disciplinary action against his daughter, who had been reported missing, upon her return home on the night of Thursday, January 9. Otala promptly notified the Chesikaki Officer Commanding Station (OCS), who arrived at the scene with a team of detectives.

A police report revealed that the victimโ€™s body was discovered by neighbors inside her fatherโ€™s house on Friday morning. The young woman, a recent Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidate who scored a D grade, had sustained multiple injuries believed to have been caused by a blunt object.

The suspect was apprehended on Friday and is currently being held at Chesikaki Police Station, awaiting court arraignment on Monday, January 13. Officers transferred the victimโ€™s body to Sante Hospital, where a postmortem examination will be conducted.

Speaking to the press, Chief Otala condemned the incident, urging parents to adopt alternative methods of disciplining children instead of resorting to corporal punishment. He also dismissed speculation that the daughterโ€™s KCSE grade was the motive behind the fatherโ€™s actions.

โ€œThis was a disagreement between the parent and child. I strongly discourage the use of physical punishment as a solution,โ€ Otala stated, calling on parents to guide their children through dialogue.
