Family’s Anguish: 6-Year-Old’s Surgery Nightmare with Quack Doctor
A family from Machakos County has been left devastated after an allegedly fake doctor operated on their 6-year-old boy.
According to the father, his son had a swollen hand suspected to be a cyst and was taken to Machakos Level 5 Hospital for treatment.
The father revealed that the doctor estimated that the operation would only take 40 minutes and that his son would need to be admitted to the hospital.
However, after the operation, the young boy’s health deteriorated, and was taken to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and the doctor ran away.
“He told me the operations had some complications but they would update me on his condition momentarily,” he recalled.
After the operation, the father complained that the hospital had denied him access to see his son.
“They told me my child was in critical condition despite going in for a minor injury. The hospital was going to state whether my son is alive or not but they haven’t told us anything,” the father stated.
He suspected that his son may have passed away in the ICU and the hospital is covering up.

The father disclosed that one of the doctors at the hospital had reached out and informed him that only two family members should be at the hospital.
“They only wanted my wife and me at the hospital but I refused to honor the directive,” the father added.
His efforts to reach the Ministry of Health have bore little fruit as he still cannot locate his son or the doctor.
The Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC) was also informed of the matter but little has been done to help the family.
The devastated father has asked the relevant authorities to fast-track the investigations and apprehend those involved.
Cases of fake professionals operating in the country have been on the rise. The Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) deregistered a man who had been posing as a surgeon for 16 years.
