Explosive Allegations: Miguna Exposes Doubts Over Raila Odinga’s AU Candidacy Eligibility

Attorney Miguna Miguna has expressed reservations regarding Raila Odinga’s qualifications for the African Union Commission role, for which Odinga has declared his intention to run.

In his role as the Azimio leader, Odinga has signaled his desire to take over from the current AU chairperson, Moussa Faki, who is scheduled to step down in early 2025.

Why does Miguna think Raila is not fit for AU chairperson?

Miguna, who identifies as a self-appointed general, raised doubts about Odinga’s eligibility for the prestigious position. He specifically pointed out a perceived discrepancy between Odinga’s educational qualifications and the specified criteria for the role.

He mentioned that candidates applying for the position should have a master’s degree in law, business administration, political science, social sciences, or economics.

Furthermore, Miguna stressed the importance of a potential AU leader showcasing an untainted history free from fraud and corruption, coupled with a considerable level of intelligence.

“To be chairperson of the AU Council (the equivalent of the IEBC in Kenya), one must have at least a Master’s Degree in law, political science, business administration, economics, or social sciences. Not metal work, panel beating, or “engineering” of makarabati like my friend Sudi.

He must also have a demonstrated record of zero record of fraud and corruption and be an intellectual leader,” he claimed.

In a different statement, Miguna asserted that Raila’s desire to head the AUC will not materialize due to his purported absence of the necessary qualifications.

“True. The conman’s AU ambition is dead on arrival. (But we want him to be the president of Africa! We want him to go to Addis! ),” he stated.

Raila makes his AU candidature official

He mentioned that his time serving as the AU high commissioner provides him with a unique edge in contributing to the continent. He also emphasized that his tenure equipped him with extensive knowledge about each African nation.

“I am ready to go for the championship of the African Union. I have been consulting widely. I think I am ready to serve the continent of Africa. Africa deserves better. If we marshal our resources as a continent, pull in one direction, then we can be able to make Africa greater,” Raila said.

“ I have served in the AU in the capacity of high representative, it gave me a good advantage to be able to learn about every African country and its comparative advantages, and I believe that by walking together with the countries, we can make Africa great,” he said.

President William Ruto also promised his backing and dedication to advocate for the former prime minister within the AU secretariat.
