Ex-NTV Journalist Asks Ruto for Appointment as Ghana High Commissioner After CS Declines Role
Former NTV journalist Kennedy Murithi Bundi has openly requested President William Ruto to consider him for a state job after Cabinet Secretary for ICT, Margaret Ndung’u, turned down her nomination as Kenya’s High Commissioner to Ghana.
Murithi, who worked at NTV for a decade until January 2023, expressed his disappointment over the CS’s decision to decline the appointment.
Using his official social media accounts, he said, “I was shocked to learn that a former Cabinet Secretary rejected a prestigious opportunity offered by the president to serve as High Commissioner to Ghana.”
Seizing the moment, Murithi made a public appeal to the president to appoint him to the vacant position. “The president has encouraged the youth to use the internet positively. I am leveraging this platform to apply for the job. Kindly consider me for this role to serve our nation in Ghana,” he wrote.

The vacancy arose after Margaret Ndung’u informed the Parliamentary Committee on Defence and Foreign Relations that she would not attend her approval hearing, citing personal reasons.
In contrast, former Sports CS Ababu Namwamba, who was nominated as Kenya’s Permanent Representative to UNEP, appeared before the committee and committed to delivering in his new role.
Murithi, currently a political advisor to Tharaka Nithi Governor Muthomi Njuki, emphasized that his current role does not prevent him from pursuing bigger opportunities.
Speaking to Gossipa2z.com, he stated, “Working at the governor’s office doesn’t limit my aspirations. If I get the ambassadorial role, I’m confident the governor will be proud of how far I’ve come, thanks to his mentorship.”
Murithi’s appeal reflects his readiness to represent Kenya on the international stage, showcasing his ambition to take on the role of High Commissioner to Ghana.
