Ex-MP Vincent Mogaka Reveals Why He Turned Down Ruto’s Ghana Ambassador Role: “My Kids Are Young”
Former West Mugirango MP Vincent Kemosi Mogaka was a notable figure for President William Ruto.
Initially appointed as a Chief Administrative Secretary in the Ministry of Trade, the roles of CASs were rendered unconstitutional before the appointees could assume them.
Ruto then nominated him as Kenya’s High Commissioner to Accra, Ghana, but Kemosi did not take up the role.
Why did Vincent Mogaka refuse Ruto’s offer?
Kemosi refuted claims that he rejected the ambassadorial offer, explaining that he had commitments that required him to remain close to home, according to KTN News.
“Accepting the assignment would require me to be away from my young family. My children are quite young and need my presence and attention. My wife is currently studying law at the University of Nairobi, and I have a child nearing the end of primary school. Additionally, I am pursuing a Master of Laws degree at Strathmore University. Given these responsibilities, I am unable to take on a role that would keep me away from home,” he explained.
He also mentioned that his constituents preferred him to stay politically engaged with them, despite the tempting nature of the offer.

“I am one person who has a strong attachment to my people back home. My constituents have prevailed upon me and have advised me not to go far. I have to heed their word,” he added.
Kemosi’s underlying reasons did not sit well with his opponent, who subsequently wrote a letter apologizing to the president and expressing concerns that the community might be overlooked in future appointments.
Currently, Kemosi continues to support President Ruto in fulfilling his promises, even though he does not hold an official portfolio.
Faith Odhiambo turns down Ruto’s appointment
In other news, Law Society of Kenya President Faith Odhiambo rejected Ruto’s appointment to the public debt audit team.
Odhiambo was listed among members of a task force charged with auditing the national debt and furnishing the president with a report.
Through the society’s chief executive, Florence Muturi, the lawyers’ umbrella body held that statutory audits are preserved for the Auditor General.
