Ex-MP Ngunjiri’s Public Apology to Uhuru: Forgive Me If I Wronged You

Former Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri has extended a plea to Former President Uhuru Kenyatta, expressing a desire for forgiveness if any offense was taken due to his past actions.

Ngunjiri, who notably opposed Uhuru’s candidacy in the lead-up to the 2022 General elections, where he threw his support behind President William Ruto, emphasized the importance of embracing reconciliation at this juncture.

Highlighting the conclusion of the political season, Ngunjiri emphasized the need for all leaders to redirect their efforts toward fostering a unified agenda.

The MP’s remarks were prompted by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s call for Uhuru to collaborate in rallying support and fostering cohesion within the Mt Kenya region.

“On Gachagua seeking peace with Uhuru, I want to say that was a political season where people clash. After that people make peace,” he said.

“Even me, If I wronged the former President I ask him to forgive me.”

Gachagua urged Uhuru to collaborate with him during his speech to the residents of Kianyaga on Tuesday.

He emphasized the importance of unity among the people of Mt Kenya for their collective benefit now that the elections are behind them.

Gachagua emphasized that by coming together, they can foster development both locally and nationally.

“Uhuru Kenyatta is our son, he should come so that we unite, is that okay? Do you have a problem with him? The election period is over. We should unite as one region and love each other. If we fail to unite, love each other, and agree, we shall find ourselves in difficult situations,” he said.

The DP further asked the residents if they approved his unity call.

“Do you want us to unite? How many of you want us to unite and be one team?” he posed.

The Deputy President has repeatedly urged the residents of the Mt Kenya area to promote harmony and provide mutual assistance.

Gachagua emphasized the importance for leaders to focus on delivering services to the populace rather than getting involved in succession discussions.

He implored the leaders to persist in their collaborative efforts for the betterment of the community.

“Those people talking about who will be what should stop, there are those talking about 2032, only God knows who will become what so let’s remain united, “Gachagua said.

In March, the Deputy President issued an apology to Mama Ngina Kenyatta, the mother of former President Uhuru, for the discord that arose in 2022.

Gachagua conveyed regret for the disrespectful conduct directed at Mama Ngina amid the intense political climate of the previous general election.

Recognizing the divisive nature of the political environment during that period, he underscored the significance of solidarity and deference within the Mt Kenya constituency.

He committed to initiatives aimed at promoting cohesion and addressing the scars left by previous political conflicts, emphasizing the importance of honoring the elder generation.
