Police have arrested a former MP who was allegedly found with two briefcases filled with alleged fake dollars.

The former MP is the husband of a former graft suspect who was among several others under a whole-day operation by EACC.

The EACC said it was investigating allegations of embezzlement of public funds through fraudulent claims amounting to Sh199 million to the city health facility by the National Hospital Insurance Fund between 2021 and 2023.

The commission said as part of the investigation on Thursday, they conducted searches at the residences of the directors of the city health facility and NHIF officials.

EACC said in the course of their investigations one of the suspect’s husbands, a former MP cocked his Ceska pistol on hearing the search team at his door.

“The husband who is a former member of parliament corked his Ceska pistol on hearing the search team at his door,” EACC said.

The Commission says their team managed to recover several items among them a CeskaPistol with an alleged expired firearm permit.
