Ex-ICT PS Jerome Okoth Lands New Job in Nyong’o’s Cabinet
Kisumu Governor Anyang Nyong’o has nominated former ICT Principal Secretary Jerome Okoth Ochieng to his cabinet.
Nyong’o nominated him for appointment to the position of County Executive Committee member for Land, Physical Planning, and Urban Development.
He said the nomination takes effect immediately while awaiting vetting by the county assembly.
“I have today Tuesday, April 30, 2024, nominated former ICT PS Jerome Okoth for appointment to my cabinet,” the governor stated in a press statement to the media.
If approved by the Kisumu County Assembly, Jerome will take over from Dr Kennedy Hongo who was sacked by the governor alongside Water and Environment CEC, Maryline Agwa.

Nyong’o sacked the two a week ago without giving any reasons.
“With powers vested on me by Section 31 (a) of the County Governments Act, I have today made the following changes in the Kisumu County Executive Committee,” Nyong’o said after relieving the two of their duties.
Agwa served as Chief officer for Water in Nyong’o’s first Cabinet before being appointed county Water executive.
She also served as Chief Officer for Water in Homa Bay County during former Homa Bay Governor Cyprian Awiti’s reign.
Before Jerome’s nomination, the County Education Executive John Awiti was acting as the Lands, Physical Planning, Housing and Urban Development CEC.
The executive for Administration and Participatory Development, Judith Oluoch, was also appointed to act as the executive member for Water, Environment and Climate Change.
